The company has started sending out emails stating that due to a “pricing error”, it will no longer honor pre-orders made at the lower price. According to the email, sent around noon ET today, Walmart detected a “pricing error on some items in your order….we had [to] Cancel according to our pricing policy. “The lack of the word ‘to’ in the phrase ‘we had to cancel it’ likely showed exactly how under attack the retailer was when they realized they had offered who knows how many customers a $100 discount.”
The box set was put up for pre-order last month at $129.98, but last week, it was listed for just $22.98. It’s possible that the error occurred as a result of Walmart selling a number of horror movies.
